Can a car battery be used in an electric wheelchair?

Category: Medical Supplies

Answer:

Although the batteries used in cars are of the lead-acid variety and are a comparable size and shape, they should never be used as a substitute for an electric wheelchair battery. Most car batteries are manufactured to provide a short burst of quick energy when your engine is started. Electric wheelchair batteries are designed to use a larger percentage of their capacity over a longer period of time. Due to these factors, the two types of batteries should never be interchanged.
