What is a content delivery network or CDN?

Category: Computers & Internet

Answer:

CDN - Content Delivery NetworkA content delivery network (CDN) is a series of computers (web servers) that hold similar data but are located in different areas. Each computer essentially holds a copy of all the data needed for a website and when resources are necessary to serve a page, the CDN will find the closest network and display the results. A CDN will ultimately improve efficiency by allowing specific users access to data based upon location.
