What is a cross-cut paper shredder? Why should I use one?

Category: Office Supplies

A cross-cut shredder is a machine that can turn a sheet of paper into a bunch of particles. (Some machines can even shred multimedia items such as floppy disks, credit cards, and CD’s.) The reason why people use machines such as this is to protect private information such as names, contact information, Social Security numbers, and banking data. If your document is reduced to countless tiny pieces, the odds of someone getting access to your personal information is greatly reduced. Therefore, you’ll be less likely to have your identity stolen and, if your run a business, you’re more likely to be in compliance with federal privacy laws such as the Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act (FACTA).
