At what height should a fire extinguisher be mounted?
According to the NFPA – Extinguishers that weigh less than 40 pounds should be mounted so that the top of the fire extinguisher is no more than five feet above the surface.
Fire extinguishers that weigh greater than 40 pounds, except wheeled types, should be installed so that the top of the extinguisher is no more than 3 feet above the floor.
Fire extinguishers should never be installed less than 4 inches from the floor.
