What is free comic book day?

Category: Entertainment

Answer:

Free Comic Book Day is one day a year in which comic book publishers publish comics for participating specialty shops to give away for free. From the major publishers like DC and Marvel to the smaller press publishers like Dynamite Entertainment and Boom Studio, these free comics usually reprint key issues of a series for new readers to buy more of the series. The comics are also sometimes first issues of a series to entice more readers to jump on from the beginning. This event is exclusive to comic book specialty shops in North America and around the world in hopes of bringing in new readers as well as showing appreciation to devoted fans. Most comic shops incorporate an event with Free Comic Book Day with other give-a-ways, entertainment, sales, etc. to make it fun for young kids and their parents.
