How do you differentiate between granite and marble?

Category: Flooring,Home Improvement

Answer:

Although both are natural and collected from the earth, granite and marble are very diverse in nature. Their differentiation lies in their porosity, softness, and durability and therefore makes each one useful for different purposes.

Granite is a very dense, resistant stone made of crystallized minerals. It is one of the hardest materials on earth and is composed primarily of quartz, feldspar, and mica. Granite is a popular choice for kitchen and bathroom countertops due to its resistance to scratches, stains, and heat. It is a long-lasting, durable material that is available in a wide variety of colors, textures, and patterns.

Marble on the other hand is softer and more porous, making it susceptible to staining by a variety of foods, liquids, and other household products. It is, however, versatile enough for use throughout the home in bathrooms, flooring, and ornamental fixtures.
