What is a home inspection? Why do I need one?

Category: Real Estate

Answer:

A home inspection is an evaluation of the condition of a property. It is a critical process because it can help identify possible repairs that may be needed before a home is purchased or a mortgage is refinanced. Every soon-to-be home buyer should have a comprehensive home inspection done by a licensed or certified professional. A home inspection will typically protect the buyer from a number of unanticipated costs that may occur after the purchase has been finalized. Identifying the major defects of a home will give leverage to the buyer and may allow for a substantial price reduction.

The actual home inspection involves examining all of the key areas of a home which include the foundation, the heating and air conditioning systems, the roof, the attic, plumbing, electrical, dry wall, ceiling, floors, doors, and windows.
