What does the image sensor do on a digital camera?

Category: Digital Cameras

Answer:

The image sensor on a digital camera converts light into an electric charge. Most of today’s digital cameras employ either 1 of 2 technologies, CCD or CMOS. In either technology, the image sensor reads the values from the accumulated electrons and converts them to a digital image which is then stored on the cameras memory card.
