What are running boards on a car or truck?

Category: Automotive

Answer:

Running BoardsA running board (also called step bars or side steps) is a car and truck accessory that is essentially a step that can be fitted under both the passenger side and driver side of a vehicle. It will typically be installed to aid in the entry of a vehicle with a higher ground clearance. Running boards will often be manufactured in widths ranging from 3” to 8” using chrome, fiberglass, steel, aluminum, or another type of durable metal. They are usually added for utility and aesthetics to larger trucks and sport utility vehicles. In many cases, running boards are usually not considered standard but many car dealers will offer them as optional features.
