What is a siphon coffee maker? Vacuum coffee maker?

Category: Kitchen & Appliances

Answer:

A siphon coffee maker (also called a vacuum coffee maker) is an alternative form of coffee brewing that was invented in the mid 1800s. Heat and water vapor create enough pressure to transfer the mixture of water and coffee from one pot to another while a gasket efficiently filters the grounds. This brewing technique has been said to make a cleaner and smoother cup of coffee compared to contemporary drip makers. Vacuum coffee makers are essentially very simple devices that utilize specific scientific principles to make coffee. The coffee maker itself can be relatively inexpensive but there are more sophisticated models that are considered luxury items that will cost considerably more.
