What is strip flooring? Wide plank flooring?

Category: Flooring,Home Improvement

Answer:

Strip FlooringStrip flooring is a type of wood flooring that is laid out with only solid pieces of wood in parallel rows. It is typically characterized by the thickness and width of the wood planks that are used. In most cases strip wood flooring is thin, usually between ¼” to ¾” thick with widths ranging from 1 ½” to 7 ½”. Anything above 3″ is considered wide plank flooring. The length of the strips will also typically vary from 12″ to 6′ depending on the quality of the flooring. Like many other flooring types it is manufactured with a tongue and groove (T&G) design and end matched. Strip wood flooring can be nailed directly to wooden sub-floors or glued to concrete slabs.
