What is terminal automation?

Category: Energy & Fuel

Answer:

Terminal automation is the process in which a supervisory software system, often called a Terminal Automation System or TAS, is installed at a bulk liquid terminal to eliminate certain manual processes. Typically, the key processes that are automated by a TAS include:

  • Facility and Equipment Status Monitoring
  • Inventory Management
  • Terminal Balancing
  • Load Rack Control
  • Data Routing and ERP Integration

Systems have evolved over time and now perform a number of other functions such as credit control, allocation management, and interface with EDI services such as Toptech Data Services (TDS).
