What is an unlocked cell phone?

Category: Cell Phones

Answer:

unlocked cell phoneAn unlocked cell phone is a type of cell phone that is not limited to one particular cell phone carrier. It typically only applies to cell phones that require the use of SIM cards and GSM technology. Unlocking your cell phone simply removes the digital restrictions that have been placed on it by the provider and allows it to function with a SIM card from another carrier. Unlocking your cell phone will also, in most cases, increase its resale value. Cell phones using CDMA technology usually can’t be unlocked. With CDMA technology, the SIM card or equivalent is embedded into the phone.
