What is a continuous ink system?

Category: Office Supplies

Answer:

Continuous Ink SystemA continuous ink system (CIS) is a cost effective alternative to standard ink cartridges. It consists of individual ink storage tanks that provide the user with a larger and almost unlimited supply of ink. The storage tanks, located outside the printer, have tubes that are attached to the printer’s printhead and ink cartridge housing. The ink in a continuous ink system can be refilled quickly and easily with a bottle or syringe. The system also allows for the tanks to be refilled with a printing job in progress. This can be useful with mass printing jobs are under way. These ink systems are also known as continuous ink supply systems, continuous flow systems, automatic ink refill systems and bulk feed ink systems.
