What is a cubit? How long is it?

Category: Mathematics

A cubit is a unit of length or distance that is often mentioned in the Bible and has been used throughout history. It originates from the Latin word cubitum or “elbow” and was typically used to represent the length of a man’s forearm from his elbow to the tip of his middle finger. This distance was said to be approximately 18 inches or around 45-46 centimeters. Over time, cubits were used in many different cultures, so they were often differences from one society to the next.
