What is a snifter?

Category: Beer, Wine, & Liquor

Answer:

SnifterA snifter is a type of drinking glass with a wide body and a comparatively narrow top (aka, the nose). It is typically used for drinking specific types of spirits like cognac, aged whiskeys, scotch, and many liqueurs. Snifters are uniquely designed to give your drink the ability to breathe while simultaneously trapping and intensifying certain aromas inside the glass. The round, wide body of the glass should easily fit in the palm of your hand allowing for a gradual warming. The characteristics that have made the snifter a popular glass for liqueurs have also made it a favorite of beer drinkers for specific types of beer. Heavy bodied beers with complex aromas are sometimes served in a snifter as well.
