What is a trademark?

Category: Law

Answer:

A trademark is typically used in commerce to identify and differentiate the products and services of a particular business entity. It is a source identifier that can be any word, name, or logo. Although, registering a trademark isn’t necessarily required, federal registration does have several advantages that will help a company legally claim ownership of a specific trademark. This will give the business entity exclusive right to use the mark on any goods or services they sell to the public. An attorney is often used to specify the goods and services used in trademarks.
